1792–1883
German physician. Entered the Prussian Army as a military doctor in 1813. Appointed extraordinary professor, Jena, 1821. Ordinary professor of anatomy and physiology, Würzburg, 1824. Professor of practical medicine and director of the clinic, Marburg, 1829–83.
