Jannet (Jessie) Brodie

1793–1873

Scottish children’s nurse. Cared for the children of William Makepeace Thackeray, and for the Darwin children at 12 Upper Gower Street and Down House, 1842–51. Retired to Portsoy, Scotland, in 1851, after Annie Darwin’s death.
