Roland Trimen
1840–1916
Zoologist and entomologist. Emigrated to South Africa in 1858. Arranged the Lepidoptera at the South African Museum. Held civil-service positions in the Commission of Land and Public Works, the governor’s office, and the colonial secretary’s office. Acting curator, South African Museum, 1866; curator, 1872–95. FRS 1883.
