Edward Cephas John Stevens

British-born land-agent and politician in New Zealand. Educated at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. Emigrated to New Zealand in 1858. Land- and commission-agent, Canterbury, New Zealand. Member of the provincial executive, 1863–6; elected representative for Selwyn, 1866–71; for Christchurch, 1875–81. Interested in flower cultivation. Chairman, Canterbury Horticultural Society. Secretary, Philosophical Institute of Canterbury, 1863.
