Maxwell Henry Close

Irish geologist. BA, Trinity College, Dublin, 1846; MA, 1867. Ordained priest in the Church of England, 1848. Had various church postings in England, but returned to Dublin in 1861 and became a gentleman scholar. President, Royal Geological Society of Ireland, 1877–9. Published on glaciation in Ireland.
