William Brooks
Servant at Down House, 1844–75. Employed as an outdoor servant, working in the garden, and with the cows, pigs, and horses1844–1853; after 1853–1875 listed under “manservants” rather than “Garden” in CD’s classed account book. Lived in a cottage near the cow-yard at Down House with his wife, (b. 1807/8).
