 German doctor .Baltic German doctor. MD Dorpat (Tartu), 1821. Joined the Russian military and served in the naval hospital at St Petersburg, 1822–6. Held several appointments in military field hospitals. Professor of clinical medicine, medical–surgical academy, St Petersburg, 1837–47. Retired to Dorpat.
