Josiah Wedgwood
Master potter. Founded the Wedgwood pottery works at Etruria, Staffordshire. Grandfather of CD and Emma Darwin. Greatly interested in experimental chemistry. Contributed several papers on the measurement of high temperatures to the Royal Society of London's Philosophical Transactions. Actively associated with scientists and scientific societies. FRS 1783.
