Karl Gustav Christoph (Gustav) Bischof
1792–1870
German chemist and geologist. Professor of chemistry and technology, Erlangen, 1819; Bonn, 1822. Studied the chemical composition of geological formations and the state of heat in the interior of the earth, and recognised the importance of the effect of water inside the earth’s crust.
