Jules Sichel

1802–68

French ophthalmologist. Founded an ophthalmological clinic in Paris in 1836, which particularly served the poor. Published numerous papers on ophthalmology and was an accomplished linguist. Also studied entomology, his particular interest being the Hymenoptera.
