William Francis Segrave
1825/6–1903
Army officer and diplomat. Captain in the seventy-first Highland Light Infantry. Served in the Crimean War, the Indian Mutiny, and the 1863 campaign against the hill tribes on the North-West Frontier of India. British consul in the Island of Réunion, 1867–74, Stockholm, 1874–9, and later in Nantes and Baltimore.
