John Forbes Royle
Surgeon and naturalist in the service of the East India Company. Superintendent of the botanic garden in Saharanpur, India, 1823–31. Professor of materia medica, King's College, London, 1837. In charge of the East India House correspondence relating to vegetable productions, 1838. A founder of the Philosophical Club of the Royal Society, 1847. FRS 1837.
