Alexander Agassiz
Swiss-born zoologist , oceanographer and mining engineer . Son of Louis Agassiz. Emigrated to the United States in 1849. Joined the U.S. survey of Washington Territory boundaries in 1859. Superintendent, Calumet copper mine, Michigan, 1867; later president of the corporation. Curator of the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology, 1874.
