George Pycroft
1819–94
Surgeon. Practised as a surgeon at Kenton, Exeter, Devon, 1844–90. Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Fellow of the Geological Society of London. One of the originators of the volunteer movement in Devon, 1852. A popular lecturer, and one of the original members of the Devonshire Association for the Advancement of Literature, Science, and Art, founded in 1862.
