George Warde Norman
Writer on finance. Merchant in the Norway timber trade, 1810–30. A director of the Bank of England, 1821–72. Exchequer bill commissioner, 1831; public works loan commissioner, 1842–76. A director of the Sun Insurance Office, 1830–64. A founder member of the Political Economy club, 1821. Succeeded to his father's estate at the Rookery, Bromley Common, Kent, in 1830. A family friend of the Darwins.
