Lewis Henry Morgan

Anthropologist. Practised law in Rochester, New York, from 1844 until the mid 1860s. Studied the Iroquois, and kinship in the Iroquois and other Native American peoples. Published League of the Ho-de’no-sau-nee, or Iroquois (1851); Systems of consanguinity and affinity of the human family (1871); and Ancient society (1877).
