  Naturalist . Lived on the Isle of Wight until 1867, but made frequent visits to Ireland to study the flora. Published Cybele Hibernica (1866). In his zoological work, concentrated mainly on birds. Assistant curator, Dublin Natural History Museum, 1867–81; curator, 1881–7.
