Louis Compton Miall
1842–1921
Natural historian. Became interested in natural history through his brother, a medical student. Received no formal training, though later attended Leeds School of Medicine. Secretary of Bradford Philosophical Society, circa 1853. Appointed curator to the museum of the Leeds Philosophical Society, 1871. Professor of biology, Yorkshire College of Science, University of Leeds, 1876–1907.
