Frederic Bateman

1824–1904

Physician. Studied at University College, London, and Paris. MD, Aberdeen, 1850. Appointed house-surgeon, Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, 1851; physician, 1864–95. MRCP, 1866; FRCP, 1876. Specialised in diseases of the brain. His book on aphasia received a prize from the Paris academy of medicine. Knighted, 1892. (British Medical Journal, 20 August 1904, pp. 413–15).
