Friedrich Karl Christian Ludwig Büchner
German materialist philosopher and physician . Lecturer in medicine, especially forensic medicine, at Tübingen University, 1854–5. Following the publication of his first work, Kraft und Stoff (1855), he was debarred from academic teaching 1855 and returned to practising general medicine 1855.
