Charles Paulus Bélanger

1805–81

French naturalist. Sent by the French government to establish a botanic garden at Pondicherry, India. Travelled to Coramandel and Burma to gather plants for the garden. Returned to Paris via the Cape of Good Hope, where he collected plants, 1829. Director of the zoological gardens in Martinique, 1850.
