Wilfred de Fonvielle
1824–1914
French journalist. Deported to Algeria, 1851, as a result of his activities following the February 1848 Revolution; returned to Paris in 1859 under amnesty. Left Paris again in 1871 after being condemned by a popular tribunal. Renounced politics after 1876 and devoted himself to literature and popular science.
