Thomas  Anderson

1832–70

 Scottish physician and botanist . Entered the Bengal medical service in 1854. Superintendent, Calcutta botanic garden, 1861–8; conservator of forests, Bengal, 1864–9; retired because of ill health. Instituted experiments that led to the successful cultivation of Cinchona in India.
