Caerdeon Barmouth | North Wales.

June 22

Dear Sir

I am much obliged for your note & am particularly pleased to hear that Dr Dub is going to publish with you, as I felt doubtful whether his work wd interfere with Prof. V. Carus’ translation2

I shd be very much obliged for Prof Jaeger’s brochure; if sent by post please to address it as above as I shall not return to my home at Down until the end of July.3

Dear Sir | yours faithfully | Ch. Darwin

P.S. I send yesterday the new English ed. of the Origin to Prof. Carus—4

The year is established by the relationship between this letter and the letter from Eduard Koch, 17 June 1869.
See letter from Eduard Koch, 17 June 1869 and nn. 2 and 4. CD refers to Julius Victor Carus and Cristoph Julius Dub.
See letter from Eduard Koch, 17 June 1869 and n. 5. CD refers to Gustav Jäger and Jäger [1869]. The Darwins returned to Down on 31 July 1869 (Emma Darwin’s diary (DAR 242)).
CD refers to the fifth edition of Origin. See letter to J. V. Carus, 21 June [1869].

Pleased that Julius Dub will publish with ES [Kurze Darstellung der Lehre Darwin’s (1870)].

Would like Gustav Jäger’s brochure [Die Darwin’sche Theorie (1869)].
