Mr. D. begs leave to enclose a cheque for 2£.6s.8d for the Knockholt Foot-path, consisting, as requested, of 1£ from himself & 13 4d from Miss Darwin & the same from Miss Wedgwood2

See letter from E. W. Fithian, 30 May 1878 and nn. 1 and 4. Elizabeth Darwin and Elizabeth Wedgwood had each pledged £2; 13s. 4d. was a third of that amount.
