August Adonis Hugo (August) (Hugo) Malm
1844–1907
Swedish ichthyologist and botanist. Son of August Wilhelm Malm. PhD, Lund, 1874; his thesis was in ichthyology. Teacher in Gothenburg while he studied the fauna of the Swedish west coast under his father’s guidance. Assistant, Gothenburg Museum of Natural History, from 1878. Made study trips to England. Contributed to the west-coast fishing boom and became a pioneer of new methods and tools.
