Carl Gustav Bernoulli

1834–78

Swiss physician, naturalist, and coffee planter. Studied medicine at the University of Basel and elsewhere; practised in Basel until 1858. Resided in Guatemala, where he owned a coffee plantation, 1858–78. Collected primarily botanical specimens.
