Down, | Beckenham, Kent.

Ap. 13th

Dear Sir

I enclose a cheque.—1

I am aware that I often give you an unreasonable amount of trouble, but if it is possible to get odd numbers of the “Flora” (German), I very much want nors. 28 & 29 of the year 1873.2 Or if necessary half a volume for the year.— Pray help me as far as you can

Yours sincerely | Ch. Darwin

If the book is not very expensive I wd have if necessary the whole vol. for the year 1873.

Footnotes

CD’s Classed account books (Down House MS) record a payment of £3 7s. on 10 April 1874 to Williams & Norgate, a London bookseller specialising in science and foreign language publications.
