My dear Sir

Thanks for 2 German letters about Translations, which I have answered. But the latter part of the enclosed one contains a proposal for you to bring out a Translation of a German book which has been very successful & which must be answered by you.2

The year range is established by the headed notepaper, which is of a sort that CD used from November 1874.
The German translators and the German book have not been identified. The letters have not been found. See also this volume, Supplement, letter to ?, 23 January [1875–82].
