Darwin, C. R. to Delpino, Federico

1 June [1870]

Summary

Thanks FD for seeds of Canna.

Still thinks it would be worth FD’s while looking at the fertilisation of Lotus; does not think Frank Darwin has exaggerated the novelty of the contrivance.

Dear Sir

I am greatly obliged for the extraordinary trouble which youhave taken in procuring for me the seeds of the Canna.f2 I havereceived them safely & they will be extremely useful to me. Ihave so often shown my son the manner of fertilisation of variousleguminous plants that I do not think it is likely that he hasexaggerated the novelty of the contrivance in the Lotus; &therefore if you have any opportunity I still think it might beworth your looking atf3

With very sincere thanks for your kindness, I remain with muchrespect,

Dear Sir, | yours faithfully | Charles Darwin
