My dear Sir

I must not defer thanking you for your very kind present,—sent me by post from Mr. Murray's— I received it this morning that I have only had time to look over it. It is a very extraordinary book!— Your late publications must surely give quite a new & most promising direction to our studies. I am just now, you know, busy with my Class that I have very little time to spare, but shall not fail to inform them of your general results.
