    The identity of the correspondent is suggested by the catalogue description, which states that CD was `returning thanks for the gift of his correspondent's treatise on Coelenterata'. There is a copy of Greene's Manual of the sub-kingdom Cœlenterata (the second part of Greene 1859--61) in the Darwin Library--Down.
