The translation of origin of species from Stuttgart have not yet arrived.—1 The Academy has not published a new edition of their dictionary,2 we believe Poitevin’s new french dictionary 2 vols 4o. (60/ 12 morocco)3 is superior to the Academy’s    English french    the best dict. is Flemmings (2 vols 4o. 50/)4    we shall take care to address your parcels and letters according to directions receivd.5

The first part of the German translation of Origin (Bronn trans. 1860) was published by E. Schweizerbart’sche Verlag, Stuttgart, on 4 April 1860 (Börsenblatt für den Deutschen Buchhandel 27 (1860): 683). CD received copies of the first part on 10 April (see letter to H. G. Bronn, 10 April [1860]).
The sixteenth edition of the Dictionnaire de l’Académie Fran˜cais was published in 1835. The next edition was not published until 1878.
Fleming and Tibbins 1841–4.
CD had a printed slip made for him giving the correct postal addresses for parcels and letters to Down. For a transcript, see Correspondence vol. 7, letter to Richard Owen, 10 December [1859], n. 5.
Greenoak was presumably a clerk in the London office of Williams and Norgate.
