My dearest Charles & Emma.

I must tell you how we grieve for you & earnestly pray you may both be comforted under this bitter affliction— We have been made very unhappy by not receiving Fanny's 2 Letters till this morg & yrs also missed the Post & only came to us yesterday, & I might have gone to Malvern yesterday if I had know.

Poor Catherine has been entirely laid up since Sunday Eveg & is not yet out of her room. She was exceedingly grieved not to have gone on Thursday, but doubts now if she could have done so. We anxiously long to hear how my poor Emma is, & how you stood the Journey my dearest C.—

I shall ever mourn the dearest Child I ever knew, & most dearly I loved her.
