- This letter is preserved in the Lubbock Papers at the Royal Society and refers to a lecture given by John William Lubbock. An entry in the Down Coal Club honorary subscriptions book (Down House MS) for 1850–1 reads: ‘Sir. J. Lubbock proceeds of Astronom. Lecture [£]3. 5[s.]’.
