Mein werther Herr!

Ihr Wunsch, mir Ihr großes Werk über Crustaceen zu widmen, ist für mich eine sehr große Ehre, und ich danke Ihnen hierfür aufrichtig aus dem Grunde meines Herzens.2 Ich wünsche Ihnen Glück, daß Ihre so lange fortgesetzte Arbeit nun nahezu vollendet ist, und es kann über den hohen Werth Ihres Werkes über diese interessanteste aller Classen des Thierreiches kein Zweifel obwalten.

Nochmals für die mir zugedachte Ehre und für Ihr höchst freundliches Schreiben dankend,3 verbleibe ich hochachtungsvoll, mein werther Herr, Ihr Ergebenster | Charles Darwin

The book brought together research that Claus had published over two decades.

Dear Sir!

Your wish to dedicate your great work on Crustacea to me is a very great honour, and I thank you for it sincerely from the bottom of my heart.2 I wish you good fortune, now that your long continued work is nearly completed, and no doubt can prevail about the great value of your work on this most interesting of all the classes of the animal kingdom.

Thanking you again for the honour bestowed on me and for you most kind letter,3 I remain, respectfully, dear Sir, your most devoted | Charles Darwin.
