Nicolai Mengden, Baron von Mengden
1862–1915
Baltic German civil servant and diplomat. Student at Dorpat, 1882–6. Served in the Tsarskoe-Selo infantry battalion. From 1886, a civil servant in the service of the governor of Tula, Russia. Served in the Russian diplomatic service as attaché to the Russian mission in Darmstadt, then as secretary of Duchess Marie of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
