My dear Sir

I thank you sincerely for the kind sympathy which has caused you to write to congratulate me on my e. as Ass of your Academy & for your assistance in conferring this high honour on me.—2 I assure you that the reception of your letter, from one as so distinguished as a geologist & palæontologist, has been no ordinary [gratification] to me.— With the most [sincere] respects & my best thanks I am dear Sir Yours very faithfully & obliged | Ch. D.
