From V. O. Kovalevsky 20 September 1870
Dear Sir!
I received yesterday the books You were so kind as to present to my brother;1 but really I am very sorry as to have given You an occasion to put Yourself in the inconvenient position of buying Your own works for presents.— I must be very careful in the numerous applications I generally adress to Yous, because Your awewhelming kindness overturn all my calculations. I send the books by Post to day to Naples and shall confort myself with the hope that perhaps a successfull revision and confirmation of Your discovery about the males of the Scalpellum will be some sort of repayement for Your kindness.2
Your very truly | W. Kovalevsky
