To David Forbes 31 July [1870]1
Down. | Beckenham | Kent. S.E.
July 31st
My dear Mr Forbes
I write a line to thank you very sincerely for your great kindness in sending me the proof-sheets of your paper on the Aymaras, of which I have received up to p. 272, which I presume is not far from the end.2 It is a most interesting & valuable memoir, & I have been extremely glad to read it before going to press; but the information which you gave me was so substantially correct, that I have had to alter hardly anything. I shall, however, instead of giving some figures refer in most cases my readers to your full details.—3
Whatever share I have had in hurrying you to publish has been a right good deed on my part.—
With very true thanks | Yours sincerely | Ch. Darwin
P.S. This appears to me an important erratum
