Though no man of science but a simple bookkeeper, I have read and admired in the highest degree all your immortal works. My dear little wife, who understands and loves you, having presented me yesterday with a pretty boy, I have taken the liberty to give him your illustrious name.1 I most humbly beg to ask your kind permission, and promise to make him an honorable man.
