I got your letter at Taylor’s yesterday & although you seem doubtful on the subject I am really very glad to hear that you have completed your arrangements (so far) with regard to the Translation of Fritz Müller.—¹ I have quite enough now on hand for the next six months & will therefore follow your advice & avoid undertaking anything more.—

I will get forward with the Translation as I have time to spare & hope to get it completed before we get F. Müller’s additions.—²

How would something equivalent to

“A lift

FOR DARWIN”

do for the Title page, putting the “lift” or other word small & the “for Darwin” in large type— It would retain the idea of Müller’s Title & at the same give the book an admissible English title, & would be better than putting German words on the title page of a translation—³
