To Thomas Salt   19 November [1849]

Down Farnborough | Kent

Nov. 19th

My dear Sir

I am very much obliged for your note of the 13th. & I write now merely, in answer to your query, to say that I will of course leave the month of February to you for looking out for an investment for me, & I much hope that you may succeed.1

I remain, dear Sir | yours sincerely | C. Darwin

T. Salt. Esqre

Salt’s letter has not been found, but see this volume, Supplement, letter to Thomas Salt, 12 November [1849]. CD had asked Salt to look out for a new investment for some money that he expected to be repaid to him in March 1850.

He is willing to wait until the end of February 1850 for Mr Salt to find him an opportunity to invest up to £30,000.
