My dear Hooker

I am in honest truth ashamed of all the trouble I have given; but I had no idea that I was giving (till your previous note) trouble to a lady. I hope you will thank most sincerely M^rs. Jacobson. The Magdalen Hall rooms will do capitally, if I can have my meals to myself & a room to be by myself in, for, as you know, my odious stomach requires that. If I am but half as well as I was at Southampton I shall enjoy myself thoroughily.—

When you write to M^rs. Jacobson, would you be so kind as to mention that, stomacho volente, I shall be at Oxford on Tuesday evening, & that I sh^d. be greatly obliged, if the Porter could be informed, which my rooms are to be, as I sometimes after travelling feel much knocked up. What a ridiculous fuss I do make about my precious self— I wish my wife c^d. have come; how she would have enjoyed Blenheim &c &c.
