English-born Australian solicitor and entomologist. Migrated to Australia, 1852. Partner in Bundall Sugar Plantation, Gold Coast, Queensland, 1873–87. President, Queensland Branch, Royal Geographical Society of Australasia, 1889–90. Between 1874 and 1892 he published a number of papers on butterflies.
