Antoine Charma
1801–69
French philosopher. Studied at the Collège Bourbon and the École normale supériere, Paris, until 1822. Professor, Caen, from 1830. Doctor of letters, 1831, for Essai sur le langage and a Latin thesis on the purpose of the arts. Accused of anticlericalism, materialism, and atheism.
