Albert Marth

1828–97

Pomeranian-born astronomer. Studied astronomy at Königsberg University; moved to London to work in an observatory in 1853. Observer at Durham University observatory, 1855–63. Studied the satellites of Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus. His career was damaged by his criticism of the Greenwich Observatory and the council of the Royal Astronomical Society.
