Alexander Nikolaevitch (Alexander) Wolkoff-Mouromtzoff (Alexander Wolkoff) (Александр Николаевич Волков)

1844–1928

Russian botanist and painter. Masters degree, University of Dorpat, 1866. Studied in Würzburg and Heidelberg, 1871–5. Doctorate in botany; professor of plant physiology, Novorossia University, Odessa, 1875–9. Moved to Venice in 1880, after which he worked as a watercolourist, signing himself Roussoff.
