Peter Dillon
1788–1847
Adventurer in the South Seas. Born in Martinique of an Irish father. Lived in Calcutta, Fiji, Bora Bora, and Sydney, engaging in trading and transportation of various sorts. Explored the Santa Cruz islands on behalf of the East India Company, 1827–8; published his Narrative of the expedition (1829).
