Henry Halloran
1811–1893
South African civil servant and poet. Moved from England to Sydney in 1822. Clerk in the survey department, 1827; chief clerk, 1859; under-secretary in the Colonial Secretary’s department, 1866; retired, 1878. Published Poems, odes and songs (1887), and A few love rhymes of a married life (1890). Close friend of Henry Parkes.
